Jackson Street Before September 12

The steep slope that runs about 300 feet between Jackson St and Hillside Avenue was a weedy eyesore.  This before picture shows one of three massive pampas grass clumps that required a backhoe for removal.   City Arborist Tony Wolcott and his staff worked days before September 12 to remove thorny blackberry and other overgrowth that required professional attention.   See our home page for an almost AFTER picture. The Albany Community Foundation is proud of its role in this fantastic community event!

The Albany Community Foundation will continue to donate funds to increase mental health services at Albany High School as well as to contribute to Challenge Days at Albany High School.

Join us for Albany's Arts and Green Festival on May 2 from 11:00 - 3:00 in Memorial Park. Come enjoy a day of music, games, and art. Discover what's happening in Albany and what you can do to help create a greener, healthier community. There will be bands playing, shows and games for the kids, poetry, delicious food, and lots of booths where artists will be displaying and selling their works. Inside the Veterans Memorial Building will be tables where you can learn about activities of local environmental and green action groups, and all the things you can do to make Albany an even greener city, from composting and recycling to installing solar panels and building with natural, non-toxic materials. Albany today is developing a reputation for having a vigorous public arts program and being one of the greenest cities in the country. So it's not surprising that this year we are celebrating "arts and green" together! Art helps see and appreciate beauty, and protecting the environment helps create a beautiful world! So come to the Albany Arts and Green Festival to dance, have fun, and enjoy our beautiful and green city! Free bike tune-ups by Street Level Cycles available, free Bike Valet Parking services sponsored by Bua Luang Thai Cuisine. The Albany Strollers & Rollers (www.albanystrollroll.org) booth will have information about bike commuting and bicycle/pedestrian advocacy in Albany
If you would like to make a donation to any of these projects, or have suggestions for additional projects, please see the "contact us" page for information on donations or a form to contact ACF.
